The mystery is solved. We know why Saki was afraid to go out the front door. It wasn't the shovel Joan left there; it wasn't the fallen branch peeking through the snow drift. No. Someone had thrown snowballs at him, poor baby.
We know this because yesterday some kids came to the door and asked to play with Saki. Joan said sure and held the door to let him out. One of the kids made a snowball and asked Saki if he wanted to play.
Well, Saki turned made a 180 and ran back into the house. "Ah ha. So it was the snowball."
He had never before been afraid of snowballs, so we figured someone must have thrown them at him the day before. They must have made him feel bad. He's always so trusting.
Charles brought him a present this morning (see picture). Now he's a happy dog again. And that's the way it should be.
Best wishes, Juno
