Chilly Morning

Last summer, we sought a shady patch far from the sunshine.
Now it's just a memory in the snow of our lives.
And to think we thought it would last forever.

All the weather forecasters say the same thing—"Stay indoors." "Don't leave your pets outside." "It's too cold even for a polar bear." A few months ago, they were telling people not to leave their pets outside because it was too hot even for a camel.

I love the cold. But, this morning I didn't last more than five minutes outside. The wind whipped right through me, which felt good at first. But, Shane couldn't stand it. All that thick fur of his, and he hates the cold. Saki doesn't notice weather—at least when there are more exciting happenings like the cat across the street or the squirrel on the neighbor's roof.

The people across the street are still leaving Ish outside. They claim his doghouse is heated, but it's still pretty horrible to get a dog and dump it in the corner of your yard. Very sad. Very sad, indeed. Humans. I just don't get it. Alas.

Best wishes, Juno
